A lot of people asked me:
“How did you get married to a foreigner (Turkish citizen) in Malaysia?”
So here it is — the full story (with love and paperwork π)
---
π’ Step 1: Go to the Turkish Embassy in Kuala Lumpur πΉπ·
π Location: Menara Tan & Tan, Kuala Lumpur
⏰ Level: 18th Floor
Honestly... I was SO NERVOUS π° the first time I went.
But no worries — I’ll guide you through!
π Important Reminder Before You Go:
Bring your IC or passport ✅
Bring your partner’s passport ✅
You MUST have an appointment, or you can’t enter ❌
π₯️ How to Make an Appointment:
1. Go to the official Turkish Embassy website
2. Select “Make an Appointment” (don’t worry — the website can auto-translate to English π¬π§)
3. Choose your service type & fill in your info
4. You’ll receive an appointment date and confirmation email
Easy, right? π

π§Ύ What Happens Inside the Embassy?
When you arrive:
1. Security will collect your phone π΅
2. They’ll give you a card and send you to the waiting area
3. Wait for your number to be called
Then, go to the counter and:
Submit your partner’s passport and Turkish ID (Kimlik Card)
Request the “Certificate of No Impediment” (Sijil Bujang / Single Status Cert)
π΅ Fee: Around RM84 (please double-check)
After you receive the 1-page certificate, you’re ready for the next step!
---
π Step 2: Register on the e-Munakahat Website π»
For those getting married in Pahang, you must register at:
π e-Munakahat Website (auto-translate works!)
π Fill out all the required forms, including:
Personal details (for both parties)
Marriage location
Witness info, etc.
π Then, print out the completed form and prepare these supporting documents:
Copies of IC/passport (both)
The certificate from the Turkish Embassy
Photos
And any other requested files
Make sure everything is clear and neatly compiled π
---
π Step 3: Get Kebenaran Berkahwin at Immigration
Before you can proceed to Jabatan Agama Islam, you MUST go to Immigration to apply for:
✅ Permission to Marry a Foreigner (Kebenaran Berkahwin Bagi Bukan Warganegara)
π️ Bring all the compiled documents (with embassy cert too!)
Once approved, you're almost there π₯Ή
---
π️ Timeline Breakdown (Approximate):
π Embassy Appointment: 1 day
π Immigration Process: 3 days
π Jabatan Agama Islam: 3 days
✅ Once everything is approved, you’ll receive the final document (Catatan Nikah) to bring on your actual wedding day!
